The team had another good street meeting today in the city, after a meeting at the new church-building with the painter and electrician.
The men preached clear and hard near the large scripture signs the others held at the square. We gave out lots of tracts. A crowd began to gather and videotape when Brother Logan and his son started singing in strong deep voices for the Lord. Many people asked us what we were doing. Some were willing listeners to the truth. Others rejected us, tilting up their heads with proud looks. Some shook their fingers at us. But praise God many heard!
It was a very hot day today and it seemed more people avoided walking in the main square where we were so that they could stay under the shade along the side walkways.
A new wrinkle has emerged in this work. Since we first hit the streets here we have been confused by our encounters with those who attend the Evangelical Church, as it seems almost all of them lack any real understanding of salvation. The man photographed below cleared things up a bit. The man believed he was born again when he was baptized as a child. He said there were thousands of evangelicals like him in Thessalonica and that because they were baptized in an evangelical church they were saved and were like us. Another soon came along with a similar lack-of-testimony.
We had good follow-up visits in the late afternoon and again in the evening with people who had read tracts and wanted to learn more.
As you can see from the photo below, God has given us good relationships with those who work on the houses and now the church building. Please pray for the conversion of these men.
