May 14-15

Uneventful travel – thanks be to God. Upon arriving at the border customs agent asked us not a single question. Our bags were never examined. Thus, in answer to prayer, 15,000 tracts made it safely to the city. Those who have crossed the sea know all about the effects of jet-lag and to those who have not there would be no way to describe it.

Housing accommodations are all anyone could want and more. An excellent, large facility in a very quiet place. This was a very good call on Bro Logan’s part as the city is incredible and oppressive to those not accustomed to the constant noise and motion.

Even those living in large cities in the USA will find it hard to picture Thessalonica. American cities have emerged over a couple of hundred years with careful planning and design. This city has been pieced together layer upon layer, age and style upon age and style for 2500 years. It is a chaotic crowd of ever moving parts, conflicting architecture, illogical roadways, and people then more people then still more people that all seems to work because it has to.

This evening we stood upon the ancient city walls built by the Romans two millennia ago and looked out over the spreading expanse of the city and prayed to God for guidance and direction. Where does one begin in order to reach such a place? We then went down and walked through town squares and busy intersections and spots where the night life thrives. There is no end to the people, nor to the opportunities to reach out to them with the gospel.
